LOS ANGELES >> Caltrans will host a third hearing Thursday to
collect public comment on a set of proposed rules for the sale of more
than 500 state-owned properties in the path of the 710 Freeway north
extension.
The agency has already identified
53 properties in Pasadena and South Pasadena that will no longer need
to be demolished for the freeway project and can be sold back into
private ownership. Before Caltrans can begin selling the homes it must
approve a set of criteria for the sale process, a draft of which was released in June.
Thursday’s meeting will be an opportunity for locals to give
input on the draft before the agency finalizes the rules this fall and
begins selling the homes next year. The meeting follows two held in Pasadena and Los Angeles last month.
The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Los Angeles Christian Presbyterian Church, 2241 North Eastern Avenue, Los Angeles.
Caltrans
has also extended the deadline for comments submitted online or by mail
until 5 p.m. on Sept. 2. Comments can be submitted by emailing affordable_sales_program@dot.ca.gov
or can be mailed to Caltrans Division of Right of Way and Land Surveys,
ATTN: Affordable Sales Program, California Department of
Transportation, 1120 N Street, MS 37, Sacramento, CA 95814.
